The Importance of Meet the Team Days
August 25, 2020
When considering franchise ownership, there are several things to take into consideration. Aside from some of the more obvious questions to ask such as, “is this in my price range?,” “is this business something I could be passionate about?,” or “what type of hours will I be working?,” there are other aspects just as important to consider. A major factor is the support that a franchisee would receive from the franchisor. A large reason people choose franchise ownership over other business opportunities is the advantage of having corporate support. With a strong corporate team behind you, there are existing proven models and strategies in place for you to implement immediately, so that you can hit the ground running and focus on growing your business from the start.
One way that Home Clean Heroes (and the other brands under parent company, Buzz Franchise Brands) shows people the structure and support of the corporate team is through our Meet the Team Days.
What is a Meet the Team Day?
As one of the last steps before someone purchases a franchise, this is the chance for a person interested in franchise ownership and the corporate team to get to know each other. It’s important for the potential franchisee to get a good feel for the people they’d be working with on a regular basis, but it’s also important for the corporate team to make sure that the candidate is a good fit for the business. If there’s a mutual agreement, then the candidate can move forward in the process and eventually be awarded ownership.
What does a Meet the Team Day consist of?
All potential franchisees in the pipeline will eventually participate in a Meet the Team Day if they plan on buying a franchise. Once our director of franchise development has spoken with the candidate to go over initial information about the business and answer any preliminary questions, the individual will be scheduled for a full day of meetings with different members of the corporate team. Prior to COVID, this meant traveling to our corporate headquarters in Virginia Beach. However, now we have transitioned to virtual meet the team days to ensure everyone’s health and safety. This has opened the door for potential franchisees that might not have otherwise been able to attend a Meet the Team Day in person.
During Meet the Team Days, the candidate will be walked through all facets of the business, from brand history to marketing to observing the routine of the house cleaning specialists. Upon meeting with each and every department, there is ample opportunity for questions and open dialogue about what their experience would be like as a franchise owner.
Why Meet the Team Days Are So Important
While candidates get the opportunity to discuss any and all questions, concerns, and ideas, the Meet the Team Days also provide a look into how the corporate team runs as a whole on a regular basis. Was the Meet the Team Day well-organized? Were the various team members able to answer your questions and explain the ins and outs of the business? Do you feel like you have a clear understanding of the business model after attending? Your experience during this time is a good indicator of the support that you’d receive as a franchisee. If things are unorganized, or you feel any sense of concern about the way the company handled your time with them, it might behoove you to look elsewhere.
At Home Clean Heroes, we also encourage validator calls, in which potential franchisees can speak with current franchisees about their experience as a franchise owner. We have full confidence in the way our franchise system runs, and this is reflected in how we run Meet the Team Days. However, we think it’s valuable to get perspective directly from other franchisees when considering such a big investment.
